Nominations of Senior Officers for Institutional Awards, Guidelines on
June 2008
The University administers a number of institutional prestigious award programs, such as the University Professors, President’s Teaching Awards, and Awards of Excellence. While eligibility for these awards is open within the community, it is difficult for individuals who hold senior appointments to be considered for such awards given the potential for perception of conflict of interest or preferential treatment if awards are made. Accordingly, individuals at the ranks of Principal, Dean, Vice-Provost, Vice-President, President, and administrative staff at a PM level 8 or 9 within the University, and equivalent ranks in affiliated or federated institutions, will not be eligible for nomination for such awards while in office or for a one-year period until after the termination of the appointment.
Nominations of all members of the University community for external awards is permitted and indeed encouraged.
